Introduction to the ESCC System of Specifications
The ESCC system for the specification, qualification and procurement of EEE parts for use in Space programmes is operated under the auspices of the Space Components Steering Board (SCSB), the preeminent ESCC body. The ESCC member Space Agencies provide an Executive to run the specification system on a day to day basis. The European Space Agency in addition to contributing to and providing a central management function for the Executive, acts as the publisher and document custodian for the ESCC documents, procedures and specifications. These are made freely available to the international Space community.
How to interact with the ESCC System and use the specifications is summarised in Basic Specification No. 20000 .
Component Specifications
The approved ESCC specifications are published on this web site; ISO image files are also provided to facilitate the download of the entire specification system.
The ESCC Specification System comprises Basic, Generic and Detail specifications:
- The Basic Specifications provide test methods, qualification methodology and general requirements applicable to all ESCC components.
- The Generic Specifications provide the requirements for screening, perodic or lot acceptance testing and qualification testing for individual families of components.
- The Detail Specifications provide the performance requirements for individual or ranges of particular components.
Users of the System may prepare new ESCC specifications for components of interest to the Space community. The preparation of an ESCC Detail Specification should make use of a Master specification which contains the "state of the art" in lay-out and policy for the reelvant family of components. A draft ESCC specification is to be given a Draft number by the ESCC Secretariat, which can be requested here.
Users may also influence the content of the specifications by utilising the formal documentation change request (DCR) system.
The specifications and their current issue status are listed in the ESCC Publication REP001 "List of Published ESCC Documents and Specifications". Retired specifications are listed in the ESCC Publication REP002 " List of Discontinued ESCC Documents and Specifications".
