External irradiation test facilities

ESA has for the last decades collaborated and supported three external irradiation test facilities for the purpose of characterising Displacement Damage (DD) Effects and Single Event Effects (SEE) in electronic components for flight on ESA missions.

The collaborative effort has resulted in the availability of three state-of-the–art facilities providing a user-friendly environment including reliable high-quality beam and beam dosimetry:

-UCL ( https://uclouvain.be/en/research-institutes/irmp/crc )

-PSI (https://www.psi.ch/en/pif)

-RADEF ( https://www.jyu.fi/science/en/physics/research/infrastructures/accelerator-laboratory/radiation-effects-facility )

Is your company eligible to use ESA beamtime?

To request authorisation to book beamtime, or for general enquires

please contact: ERFbooking@esa.int

Lists of irradiation facilities worldwide :

- A catalogue on Worldwide Irradiation Facilities that has been made for the RADECS 2015 Conference, it can be provided upon request.

- Information about facilities for radiation testing at CERN, in EU, and worldwide can be found hear:
