ESCC Detail Master Specifications
The ESCC system of specifications includes its own specification management requirements in document ESCC 12002. This standard includes the requirements applicable to the preparation of ESCC Detail Specifications. The Component Manufacturers and Users have the main responsibility in the preparation of Draft Detail specifications. The ESCC Secretariat has the duty to support the drafting exercise by identifying "master" specifications which should serve as the starting point at the time of drafting a new Detail specification.
So, what is a master specification in ESCC? It is a good "template", but it is not empty of content. On the contrary, it contains the full text and content of an already approved detail specification for a certain family type. It will help component manufacturers or users in their drafting of a ESCC Detail specification: by using the master specification as starting point, they will know that they are already editing a document which has met the state of the art requirements of the ESCC system regarding policy, organisation of the content and general lay-out. In addition, the expectable turn-around time involved in the various stages of the preparation of the specification, up to its publication, may be shortened by starting on the "right foot". For example: if one manufacturer is trying to put together an ESCC specification for a MOSFET, the best starting point would be one of the latest ESCC specifications for MOSFETs.
However, do not forget that a master specification is NOT an official ESCC specification and should not be used for procurement or qualification. The approved ESCC specifications are also published on this same web site, but only in .pdf format. The approved specifications and their current issue status are listed in the ESCC Publication REP001 "List of Published ESCC Documents and Specifications". Similarly, master specifications can not be used to introduce amendments to an ESCC published specification. Please use the Document Change Request (DCR) provided here if you want to propose an amendment to an already published specification.
This webpage contains master specifications produced by the ESCC Secretariat to help you in your preparation of ESCC Detail Specifications. Please contact us if you can not locate a template close enough to your needs and we will be happy to help.
